CHAPTER III - Introduction period

>>> Introduction period

... Schedule ...

… Classmates …

… First lectures…

System Control – 4 credit Term 1                                               Toon van Griethuijsen, B2.06 – a.e.van.griethuijsen@hva.nl
First course, first reflex for the teacher … SPEAK IN DUTCH! He is old and do not talk loud. He advised us two books. The first one “Regeltechniek voor HTO” for Dutch students and the second one “Modern Control Engineering, Fourth edition – Katsuhiko Ogata” (100E). The next lecture on Wednesday at 14:20 Room A7.02 Even if Dutch students didn’t agree with my schedule.

English fluency – 1 credit Term 1&2                        Jacqueline Hiemstra, C4.26 – j.hiemstra@hva.nl
Too much Dutch students talking in that lecture … if I can say an English course. The first year was writing skill and the second will be speaking skill. Next session is a test on Tuesday at 15:15 in order to evaluate our level and make fair groups. However, Jacqueline told me that I would be in the higher class.

 International office                                              Kitty van Wissel , B4.42 :- k.g.a.van.der.wissel@hva.nl

 In the room
Sign administrative paper for Erasmus.  The arrival, the learning agreement and the presence form.

Break - Lunch Time

They don’t know lunch time …I only had a break at 14:20, I went to the  cafeteria, eat a croc monsieur for 2E … But could pay with my student ID…cos they didn’t make it …so, I make a deal with the manager.

Survival Dutch

Facility Service, Caglar.
He helped me to find ASG!  It means Amstelcampus, it’s a other building few kilometers away: Wibautstraat 2-4 1091 GM Amsterdam. I went by bike…first time I stop to the wrong building … but smart idea to put two HvA in the same street.  When I arrive to the second for the lecture…I wasn’t late…but they have so big building that you need a map in order to find your room. Don’t ask help to security, or coffee shop, or help desk…they don’t know anything …and it’s hard to convince them to help you.
